ValueD: a model of cognitive value determination in design

In spite of the increasing importance placed on creation and delivery value, it is unclear what value how determined in design. this paper, first descriptive model determination (ValueD) presented to clarify key elements mechanisms involved. ValueD describes as a cognitive process that situated dependent an agent’s knowledge. The variables involved are: entity interpreted by agent; situation knowledge criteria prioritisation activity; selection judgement activity. output statement. Value shown refer extent satisfies criteria. evaluated through comparison against seven axioms protocol analysis engineering design episode. article concludes with discussion strengths, limitations, future work ValueD, its relationship concepts such added exchange perceived benefit, need.
